Interpol's latest operation recovered $439 million from online scams, including $97 million in cryptocurrency. The six-month initiative, spanning 40 countries, froze 400 crypto wallets and blocked 68,000 bank accounts.

Scams ranged from romance fraud to investment schemes, marking the sixth phase of the HAECHI collaboration. South Korea-backed efforts have now yielded 5,500 arrests since 2024.

'Funds lost to fraud aren't always gone,' said Theos Badege of Interpol's Financial Crime Centre. The operation demonstrates growing international coordination against crypto-enabled crime.
